San Pablo Reservior

This trail and road course starts right at the corner of Wildcat Canyon and Bear Creek Rds in Orinda and runs along a large reservoir to a dam. The first two miles are pretty trail in EBMUD land (you need a permit). After that it’s semi-nice along the disused Old San Pablo Dam Rd, which is mostly reverting back to grass and flowers. Beyond that you can run to a bit more than 5 miles out, much of which is parking lots or connecting roads for parking lots, for who knows what. Memorial day weekend there was nobody in them, so it’s a mystery to me! There’s water about 2 miles in, and toilets along the way, although most were locked.

The run is a hilly enough to be good, but easily runnable. Generally enjoyable run.

Directions

You get there off Hwy 24 for by exiting at the Orinda exit and heading north. The start is up the road 2 miles at the intersection of Bear Creek Rd. Or, you can drive through Tilden which looms above this run.
