Alameda Creek Trail

An amazingly flat almost endless trail near Fremont, CA. Start at the Beard Staging Area. To the north of there the trail runs up past Quarry Lakes park to Niles Canyon. To the South it runs under I-880 out to the bay, the nicer section.

The entire paved length is about 12 miles, so it’s easy to put in a long flat run here. On the south side the trail is paved, on the north it’s dirt. Pick the dirt, though the paved part has mile markings. To be honest, it is kind of a boring run no matter which side or direction you run, but can really serve a purpose in the final long runs of marathon training.

There’s bathrooms at the start and along the way, but when we ran it there was only water at the beginning. The promised water at a horse staging area near Coyote hills had a non-functioning water fountain.
